And that’s before you get to the cultural question: does art still feel valuable when it’s generated faster than it can be watched?
So what happens next? My bet: permission becomes the moat
If realism is cheap, the scarce assets become:
licensed training data
authorized likeness libraries (faces/voices with consent)
provenance (watermarks, verification, “show your work”)
distribution trust (platforms that can label, filter, and enforce)
In other words, the competitive edge shifts from “best model” to best rights + best proof.

In 24 months, which world are we living in?
A) Opt-in media: licensed data, paid likeness, clear provenance baked in.
B) Generate-first chaos: viral synthetic media everywhere, followed by lawsuits and cleanup.
Because Seedance 2.0 isn’t just a new tool. It’s a preview of a world where video becomes text-level easy, and society has to decide what ownership means when anyone can synthesize anyone.
